Ingredients

  • 2 large Russet potatoes
  • 1 ½ tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder optional
  • ½ teaspoon paprika optional

Instructions

  • Wash and peel the potatoes (optional). Cut them into evenly sized sticks, about ¼-inch thick.
  • Place the potato sticks in a bowl of cold water and soak for 15–20 minutes. Drain and pat dry with a clean kitchen towel.
  • In a large mixing bowl, toss the potatoes with olive oil, salt, garlic powder, and paprika until evenly coated.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Arrange the potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them. Cook for 15–20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  • Remove the fries from the air fryer and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftover fries in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for 3–4 minutes to restore crispiness.
  • Freezing: Freeze uncooked, seasoned fries in a single layer on a baking sheet. Once frozen, transfer to a freezer bag. Cook directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time.
  • Oil-Free Option: For oil-free fries, skip the olive oil and spray the basket lightly with cooking spray instead.
